Party Propaganda:DNC calls out Bachmann, Kline, House Republicans For Lies, Scare Tactics On Health

Movie: http://Party-Propaganda.groups.theuptake.org/rss/videogalleryView/id/2574/
Description:
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced today the latest in its ongoing series – Call ‘Em Out – calling out House Republicans for their continued use of debunked claims and outright lies to distort the health insurance reform debate and block reform. For months, Republicans have offered nothing but outlandish assertions – based purely on myth – and it’s crucial in the homestretch of this necessary and historic health reform effort that reform supporters double down on separating fact from fiction. In an email that will be sent today, DNC Executive Director Jen O’Malley Dillon asks health reform supporters to watch a video pitting house members’ misleading, false claims against the independent organizations who have repeatedly discounted those claims and asks supporters to share their concerns with their Representative via twitter.

Party Propaganda: New TV Spot: “Justice” Introduces Americans to Judge Sonia Sotomayor

Movie: http://UpTake-Editorial.groups.theuptake.org/rss/videogalleryView/id/2076/
Description:
New TV Spot: “Justice” Introduces Americans to Judge Sonia Sotomayor
The Coalition for Constitutional Values, a national coalition of the nation’s leading nonprofit and advocacy organizations, announced today that it will begin airing “Justice” a new 30-second television spot that will run on national network news and cable news starting today.

“This spot introduces the American people to Judge Sonia Sotomayor. Every aspect of American life is affected by our justice system,” said Wade Henderson, co-chair of the Coalition for Constitutional Values and president of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights. “It’s important they understand her fair-minded approach to the law which is grounded both in her eminent legal qualifications and her life experiences.”

The Coalition for Constitutional Values, whose members represent millions of Americans, believes it is important that the American people know about the qualities of their Supreme Court justices.

“In selecting Judge Sotomayor, the president has nominated a candidate of sterling credentials who will uphold the Constitution and the law,” said Nan Aron, co-chair of the Coalition for Constitutional Values and president of Alliance for Justice. “We commend President Obama for choosing a brilliant and fair-minded jurist to serve on our nation’s highest court. Judge Sotomayor is precisely the kind of nominee we need – one who, as President Obama described, ‘has the intellectual firepower but also a little bit of a common touch and has a practical sense of how the world works.’”

“President Obama used this opportunity to do exactly what he promised in last year’s election - to select a person who has demonstrated an abiding commitment to core constitutional values of justice, opportunity, and equality under the law. He has named someone who understands the impact that the law has on the everyday lives of ordinary Americans,” said Michael B. Keegan, co-chair of the Coalition for Constitutional Values and president of People for the American Way.

The new spot is part of a broader public education campaign launched by the Coalition for Constitutional Values, co-chaired by the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, Alliance for Justice and People for the American Way. The Coalition hopes the spot will introduce the American public to Judge Sotomayor who has experience in nearly every aspect of the law, having served as a big-city prosecutor and a corporate litigator, a federal trial judge and an appellate judge.
